I first had coconut shrimp in Aruba on my honeymoon so needless to say I simply LOVE it. Shortly before the wedding, while discussing Aruba and some of the seafood I wanted to eat (obvi), my dad mentioned he really … Continue reading
This is an excellent cake for when you have company over, or, if you have more English sensibilities, with an afternoon tea. It could also be a delicious dessert, perhaps with some vanilla or pistachio ice cream. It went so … Continue reading
I love baba ghanouj. Baba ghanouj…it makes you feel exotic just saying it. I’m lucky enough to live near a great Middle Eastern restaurant called Zaytoon’s that got me hooked on baba ghanouj. I took my brother-in-law (who has been abroad) … Continue reading
I love shrimp. I love that “jumbo shrimp” is a perfect oxymoron. My Grandma makes a mean shrimp scampi and I’ve had some other killer shrimp pasta dishes (Bar Tabac). Shrimp is delish on it’s own too. After getting the … Continue reading

I really did not know what to expect making this. It sounded good – but I was still a little scared. I love apples, and somehow the idea of mixing apple slices with cheese was a little… egh. However, it was delicious! I would suggest it for a fancy brunch. We had it for dinner and it was very good and I thought quite filling (fiance made himself 2) For example, one of my bridesmaids Lauren is very sophisticated/Audrey Hepburnish - loves French food and knows her cheeses. I would love to make this for her next time she visits.
A week or so ago, I bought two sweet potatoes on a whim. They’ve been sitting on my counter ever since. I was a little frightened to do anything with them. Sweet potatoes are an ugly…root? tuber? vegetable? Whatever. They intimidated me.
